HeadNoise Student Film Festival takes its name from the acclaimed animated short film, HeadNoise, which was written and produced by NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal and HSFF founder Donnie F. Wilson.
It is a tribute to the heart of the film, which tells the compelling story of two childhood friends. One is determined to overcome his anxiety brought on by his own internal thoughts, while the other struggles with depression. HeadNoise explores the complex psychological and environmental pressures that can hinder young people from achieving their goals.
Inspired by the film's poignant mental health theme, HSFF provides a valuable platform for students [grades 7-12].to tell stories that promote awareness and understanding of mental health and wellness.
HSFF 2024 marks the beginning of what will be an annual
hallmark of student film festivals.

HSFF's partnership with Palisades Charter High School is the cornerstone of the organization's efforts. We are grateful for the support of the school's chief administrators and key faculty, whose commitment to excellence is integral to the success of our shared vision. Palisades Charter High School will lead the pilot program, which will initially focus on a select group of middle and high schools before expanding to the wider Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) community and eventually, a nationwide launch.

“My artistic process starts with the understanding that it is a privilege to participate in the evolution of an idea.”
Donnie F. Wilson is an accomplished playwright, whose exceptional talent and dedication to his craft have earned him notable acclaim. His plays have been celebrated, and he has been named as one of North Texas' most talented playwrights by the venerable Dallas Observer.
Most recently, Donnie graced the position of Executive Producer and partner at Jersey Legends Productions, alongside the company’s renowned founder and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal. Together, they wrote and produced the spellbinding animated film HeadNoise, which earned the distinguished title of Best U.S. Short at the prestigious New York Animated Film Awards and also received the highly coveted Hollywood Music in Media award for Best Song in a Short Film. Donnie also teamed up with superstar Steph Curry as executive producer on the Academy Award-winning documentary, The Queen of Basketball, an extraordinary masterpiece that enraptured audiences worldwide.
